STOUGHTON - The Monroe Cheesemakers found themselves in three very close games against the Vikings Tuesday, but the Cheesemakers won all three, 26-24, 25-18, 25-22, to capture a Badger South win on the road.
"Stoughton has excellent ball control and dug out a lot of our hits," Monroe head coach Dave Gersbach said . "This time we remained calm. We executed greatly and didn't force it."
Senior setter Jessica Wyssbrod gave the Cheesemakers numerous scoring opportunities with 36 assists. Senior Jamie Armstrong provided the offensive punch with 23 kills and five aces. Defensively, Monroe got strong efforts from senior Chelsea Wyss with 13 digs and junior Jaclyn Ditter with four blocks.
"Across the board, everybody played nicely. The seniors stepped up. I'm very proud of them," Gersbach said. Monroe improves to 17-8 overall and 4-6 in the Badger South. The Cheesemakers will face Milton at home Tuesday, which is Senior night.
