JANESVILLE - Monroe wrapped up the Janesville Craig Invitational Tuesday by winning two dual matches.
The Cheesemakers defeated Janesville Parker 5-2 and beat Monona Grove 5-2.
All four of Monroe's singles players went 2-0, including senior Kristin McArdle at No. 1 singles, junior Ellie Shuda at No. 2 singles, junior Lily Priewe at No. 3 singles and senior Alyssa Quinn at No. 4 singles.
"These girls hopefully will look to be a huge strength for the team," Monroe coach Stephanie Miller said. "Our doubles played hard and we will look to improve this week in time for the doubles tournament Saturday."
In the match against Janesville Parker, McArdle defeated Emily Sodemann 6-3, 6-0. Shuda defeated Lauren Brooks 6-0, 6-0. Priewe won a three set match over Janesville Parker's Beck Hermata 6-4, 2-6, 11-9, and Quinn defeated Terri Hermata 6-2, 6-4.
The Cheesemakers' only other win against Janesville Parker came at No. 3 doubles with Elisabeth Brunner and Erica Hegi defeating Melanie Whitescarver and Gretchen Genrich 6-4, 6-4.
Against Monona Grove, McArdle won her No. 1 singles match against Ashli Paulson 6-0, 6-0. Shuda defeated Monona Grove's Mykenzy Palmer 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Priewe defeated Molly Moritz 6-1, 6-1. Quinn knocked off Monona Grove's Rea Solomon 6-1, 6-0.
The Cheesemakers' other win against the Silver Eagles came from the No. 1 doubles team of Kelsey Erickson and Brooke McBain, who defeated Monona Grove's Alyssa Strangstalien and Nicole Hildebradt 6-1, 6-1.
McFarland visits the Cheesemakers Thursday. Monroe then hosts the Cheesemakers Doubles tournament Saturday.
