PLATTEVILLE - The Cheesemakers' boys soccer team continued its pursuit toward a winning season, knocking off Platteville 4-0, Saturday.

"We had a very balanced attack," Monroe head coach Tony Stamm said.

Monroe scored all four goals in the first half, opening the game up for each varsity player to collect quality minutes on the field.

"Everybody played. They were excited to be out there, and they all played good," Stamm said.

Senior striker Andrew Aurit started the scoring by nailing a shot from outside at the 4 minute, 25 second mark.

In the 18th minute, sophomore Matt Bush scored his first career varsity goal, sending a pass across the box, only to have a defender knock it into the net.

Senior Godi Brandli took a long pass from Kelly Isaj on a breakaway in the 27th minute for Monroe's third goal. The score was Brandli's first of the season.

Mike Gross finished the scoring in the 38th minute by pulling off a rare goal from a corner kick. Gross' bending shot may have been helped a little bit by the wind, according to Stamm.

The game also marked Jordan Steurer's first shutout in goal.
