STOUGHTON - Even if it was the result of a comedy of errors, Monroe's softball team left Stoughton smiling Wednesday evening.

One night removed from its first Badger South loss of the season, a 5-2 decision in McFarland, Monroe (11-2, 6-1 Badgre South) managed just five hits in an 8-2 victory over Stoughton on the road.

The Cheesemakers ran rampant as the Vikings kicked it around to the tune of seven errors. Junior centerfielder Maggie Schuttler was the only Cheesemaker with multiple hits while Kayla Rackow slapped a three-bagger and starter Renee Schuttler, Maggie's older sister, took a break from pitching in smacking a double.

Schuttler was back to her overpowering self on the pitching plate as she fanned eight batters over five innings after working twice in Tuesday's twin bill.

Carlie Olsen and Meghan Roberts both pitched in with an inning of relief.

Monroe struck for runs in four consecutive innings to efficiently seal Stoughton's fate. The Lady Cheese scampered around the bases for two runs in the second and third innings, three in the fourth and a single run in the fifth. The Vikings salvaged two runs during their last raps in the bottom of the seventh.

The Badger South foes just keep coming, this time literally as Monroe returns to Twining Park for a clash with Verona today at 5 p.m. The Cheesemakers are seeking a season sweep of the Wildcats after taking a 2-0 decision April 21 at Field of Dreams in Verona.
