Cheese held to two hits by Edgewood

MADISON - The Cheesemakers avoided a second straight no-hitter by collecting a pair of hits against Madison Edgewood in a 10-0 loss in six innings Tuesday night at the Duck Pond at Warner Park.

Madison Edgewood scored 1 run in both the first and third innings. In the fifth inning, the Crusaders unloaded for six runs against the Cheesemakers.

Madison Edgewood ended the game early by scoring two run in the sixth to enter the 10-run mercy rule.

Madison Edgewood had 12 hits in the game. Both teams committed three errors.

Mike Demianiuk started on the hill for the Cheesemakers. He was tagged with the loss, three walks and nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Demianiuk, who also struck out five, had not walked a batter in conference this season and had only one walk throughout the regular season entering the game.

Cory Kundert pitched in relief and was tagged for two runs and three hits.

Mitch Marty and Kris Rieder had Monroe's hits.

Monroe is at Oregon on Friday.
