ORLANDO, Fla. - The Monroe girls softball team concluded its trip to the Disney World Tournament in Orlando, Fla. The Cheesemakers will return to Monroe today.
Monroe faced St. Viators, Ill., Wednesday and lost, 11-5. Later that night, Monroe scrimmaged Byron-Bergen of upstate New York before losing Thursday morning to Ewing, N.J., 12-0.
"We just beat ourselves," said Monroe head coach Dale Buvid. "It will take a couple of weeks to clean up (the mistakes). We're not quite ready. We have not had a lot of practices yet and we're playing teams with 15 to 20 practices under their belts."
Once the Cheesemakers get back to Monroe, they won't waste much time getting into Badger South Conference action. Monroe will travel to Madison Edgewood Tuesday for the conference opener.
