Cheese drop two at Sauk Invite

PRAIRIE DU SAC - A short-handed Monroe boys soccer team lost two games at the Sauk Prairie Invitational Saturday.

Monroe (3-7-1, 0-2 Badger South) lost to Green Bay Southwest 6-0 and then lost to West Salem 2-1. The Cheesemakers had two players banged up who didn't play a game and two others not available. Monroe senior Sam Keizer, who was stepped on in a game at Oregon Friday, didn't play against Green Bay Southwest. Freshman Blake Duffy also didn't play against Green Bay Southwest due to knee injury. Senior goalkeeper Kramer Henning and senior Mitch Marty were at a baseball tournament and weren't available.

"It was a tough weekend," Monroe coach Tony Stamm said. "We played ourselves out at that game," he said of Oregon Friday.

Monroe junior Belsazar Castellanos scored on a free kick at 35 minutes, 17 seconds against West Salem. Monroe junior goalkeeper Kyle Williams had 16 saves against Green Bay Southwest and six saves against West Salem.

The Cheesemakers host Fort Atkinson at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Honey Creek Park.

"We just need to re-group for our conference game Tuesday," Stamm said.
