BELOIT - The Cardinals came from behind to win its first Rock Valley conference title since 2004.
The Cardinals topped Beloit Turner 55-43 on Friday night.
Brodhead trailed Beloit Turner 15-10 after the first quarter and 25-20 at halftime. A 13-5 run in the third quarter gave the Cards a 33-30 lead headed into the fourth quarter.
From there, Brodhead kept its composure and finished the game by scoring 22 points in the fourth.
J.J. Panoske scored 25 points for Brodhead. Senior Micah Wallace had 13 points, including three 3-pointers and Ryan Miller added 11 points.
The coaching staff said they were really pleased with the team's hard work and dedication all season long.
The win assured the Cardinals sole possession for the Rock Valley South title. Beloit Turner sat just one game back in the standings. Had the Cards lost, they would have needed to win their final game on Friday, Feb. 27 at Palmyra-Eagle in order to clinch a share of the title. However, that scenario was left at the Beloit Turner gym.
Brodhead still has one remaining game left on its regular season schedule, and that is Friday, Feb. 27 at Palmyra-Eagle.
