Cards storm past Panthers

PALMYRA - The Brodhead girls basketball team continued its hot streak rolling to a 55-22 win over Palmyra-Eagle Friday.

Brodhead freshman Erin Nyhus scored a game-high 14 points to pace the Cardinals, who have won six straight games. With the win, Brodhead improves to 6-1, 4-1 Rock Valley South Conference.

The Cardinals raced out to a 16-7 lead and the lead snowballed to 19 points at halftime.

Brodhead junior Amber Pickel scored 12 points and junior Kylie Moe chipped in nine points. The Cardinals made 22 of 35 free throws.



Mineral Point 79, Darlington 25

MINERAL POINT - The Darlington girls basketball team's rivalry with Mineral Point turned into a blowout as the Pointers cruised to a 79-25 win.

Mineral Point jumped out to a 29-7 lead in the first quarter and led by 31 points at the half. The Pointers also outscored the Redbirds 28-2 in the third quarter.

Mineral Point's Clara Chambers scored a game-high 25 points and hit four 3-pointers. With the win, Mineral Point improves to 5-3, 2-1 SWAL and Darlington drops to 3-5, 2-2.

Darlington's Callie Norton scored eight points.
