FONTANA - Both the Brodhead-Juda boys and girls cross country teams ran to championships at the Duck Pond Invitational hosted by Walworth Big Foot.

The Brodhead-Juda boys cross country team turned in a dominating performance, placing five runners in the top nine to run away with the team title with 30 points. The Stateline Home School, paced by individual champion Dalton Rasmussen who won the 5,000-meter race in 17 minutes, 23.2 seconds, took second with 67 points.

Brodhead-Juda junior Michael Hatter finished second in 18:04.4. Senior Reuben Larson was fifth (18:47.2), senior Nate Ciabatti sixth (18:50), senior Jeff Moss eighth (19:14) and freshman Jacob Staffon ninth (19:17.6).

The Brodhead-Juda girls were led by junior Madee Harding, who finished sixth (21:42.9). Junior Cora Purdue placed 10th (22:55.4), sophomore Nicole Kamholz 11th (22:57.4), freshman Carissa Purdue 15th (23:13.1) and sophomore Nadia Flood-Elyafi 16th (23:23.6).



Glarner Knight boys run to 7th

BELLEVILLE - The New Glarus-Monticello boys had two runners finish in the top 15 to take seventh place in the Capitol Conference Challenge.

New Glarus-Monticello senior Kyle Fredrickson finished 10th in 19:06.6, and senior Christian Arnett placed 15th (19:23.4).

Lakeside Lutheran, behind senior individual champion Mitchell Georgi (17:33.3), also claimed the team title with 38 points to top Watertown Luther Prep (68). The Glarner Knights (157) were the second team from the South in the final results.

New Glarus-Monticello freshman Adam Nelson took 29th (20:05.5), senior Andrew Newberry was 46th (21:25.5), and freshman Garrett Grossen took 57th (22:10.7) to round out the top five for the Knights.

In the girls race, Watertown Luther Prep edged Lodi for the championship 56-68. Poynette senior Elizabeth Reddeman won the individual title (20:38.3) to lead the Pumas (73) to a third-place finish. The New Glarus-Monticello girls scored 287 points and finished 11th out of 12 teams.

Sophomore Gabbie Sawyer took ninth (22:29.2) to lead the Knights. Freshman Molly Molencamp took 64th (27:28.4), senior Kelly Fredrickson placed 65th (27:29.7), junior Gabby Whisler placed 73rd (28:29.8), and junior Brooke Dreyfus took 76th (31:09.7).
