BRODHEAD - Both the Brodhead-Juda girls and boys track teams finished second place at the 11-team Jim Church Invitational Friday.

Brodhead-Juda junior Taylor Bluemel won the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 22.8 seconds and took second in the 3,200 in 11:45.2. McFarland outdistanced Brodhead-Juda for the team title 117-98. Pecatonica-Argyle took ninth (14) and Albany was 10th (13). Brodhead-Juda freshman Maddie Harding finished second in the 100 (12.8), which was 0.1 seconds away from the champion. Freshman teammate Kora Purdue took second in the 800 (2:35.5).

The Cardinals' 3,200 relay team of Harding, Morgan Adkins, Purdue and Bluemel won with a time of 10:01.9.

Brodhead-Juda's Ann Beyer took second in the shot put (35-9 1/2).

Pecatonica-Argyle's Josie Penniston finished third place in the 200 (26.7) and third in the 400 (1:01.7).

In the boys' meet, Brodhead-Juda sophomore Tyler Urness finished second place in the 1,600 (4:48.5) and third in the 800 (2:06.8). Senior teammate Logan Maurer finished second place in the shot put (46-2 1/2) and second in the discus (138-0). Brodhead-Juda senior Gavin Baade took third in the discus (136-5).

McFarland ran away with the boys' team title 163-131 over the Cardinals. Albany took ninth (37), Monticello finished 10th (4) and Pecatonica-Argyle was last in the 11-team meet.

Albany senior Brennan Bloedel took second in the 3,200 (10:15). Brodhead-Juda's Brekkan Day finished second in the high jump (5-4) and junior Jakob Harper was third in the 400 (54.1). The Cardinals' 400 relay team also finished second (47.9). Albany's 1,600 relay team took third place (3:47.9). The Cardinals also took second in the 3,200 relay (8:27.1).
