PALMYRA - The Brodhead girls basketball team used a balanced offensive attack to propel themselves to a 45-18 win over Palmyra-Eagle Thursday night.

Brodhead (3-0 Rock Valley South) outscored Palmyra-Eagle 15-0 in the first quarter and led by 21 points at the half. Brodhead senior Taylor Douglas scored a team-high eight points. Kylie Moe added seven points and Rachel Heller and Meg Duffield each chipped in six. Eight of Brodhead's players scored and the Cardinals hit four 3-pointers.

"With some of the girls coming back from injuries, we weren't going to force anything," Brodhead coach Brad Pickett said. "We shot the ball well tonight."

Darlington 64, Fennimore 44

DARLINGTON - Senior Cassidy Chambers scored a game-high 24 points and made five 3-pointers to lead the Redbirds past Fennimore.

"You could tell after she hit the first couple of shots that she was feeling it," Darlington coach Riley Fitzsimons said.

Darlington (4-1, 1-1 SWAL) jumped out to a 20-4 first quarter lead and led by 13 points at half.

Senior Claire Scott scored 16 points and senior Mallory Busch added 11 for the Redbirds. Darlington hit nine 3-pointers.

"Our defense was the biggest key of the game," Fitzsimons said.

Lodi 49, New Glarus 41

LODI - The New Glarus girls basketball team couldn't overcome an early deficit and fell to Lodi in a non-conference home game Thursday night.

The Blue Devils jumped on the Glarner Knights early, establishing a 10-point lead in the first quarter.

"(In) our first quarter, we struggled," New Glarus coach Megan Scheele said. "They pressed us right away."

Senior Cassie Feller led the way for the Glarner Knights, scoring 10 points. Senior Lexi Hanson also chipped in 9 points.

Despite the loss, Scheele said she saw a lot of things not on the stat sheet that make her think the Knights are turning a corner.

"Compared to the last game we played, we did a lot more of the little fundamentals better," Scheele said. "We're really excited to see what happens in our next game. We're right there."

The Knights will take on Dodgeville at home on Monday.
