Cards rally to upend Beloit Turner, 58-50

BRODHEAD - Brodhead junior Amber Pickel scored a team-high 21 points to lift the Cardinals to a 58-50 comeback win over Beloit Turner Tuesday.

Beloit Turner jumped out to a 28-18 lead at the half. The Cardinals (5-1, 4-1 Rock Valley South) rallied from the 10-point deficit by outscoring the Vikings 40-22 in the second half.

Brodhead junior Kylie Moe scored 14 points and freshman Erin Nyhus added 13 points and made two 3-pointers. It marks the fifth straight win for Brodhead. The Cardinals helped seal the win by making 26 of 35 free throws.

Darlington 48, Iowa-Grant 44

LIVINGSTON - The Darlington girls basketball team tipped Iowa-Grant 48-44 on Tuesday.

Darlington (3-4, 2-1 SWAL) outscored the Panthers 16-6 in the second quarter to take a a 13-point lead at the half. The Redbirds withstood the Panthers' second half rally.

Darlington's Mariah Wiegel scored a game-high 14 points and made four 3-pointers. Teammate Taylor Cox added 13 points and Callie Norton chipped in 10 points.

The Redbirds made 13 of 16 free throws compared to 9 of 17 for the Panthers.
