BRODHEAD - The Brodhead softball team earned a doubleheader split Saturday with Beloit Turner after another stellar pitching performance by sophomore Erika Stampfli.
Stampfli pitched back-to-back complete games in the doubleheader. She was just about untouchable in the second game, pitching a one-hit shutout to lead Brodhead to a 9-0 win. In the second game, Stampfli gave up just one hit, struck out eight and walked two.
The Cardinals had three players with multi-hit games including Leah Hegi (2-for-4), Jorden Riese (2-for-5) and Tia Collins (2-for-5).
Errors haunted Brodhead in the first game, as the Cardinals committed four errors and lost, 6-0.
Stampfli pitched a complete game and gave up six runs on four hits. She struck out 13 and walked five.
Collins went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Cardinals.
The doubleheader for the Cardinals was the first part of a stretch that includes four games in four days. The Cardinals play at Burlington Central Catholic today and are on the road again Tuesday at Evansville.
