JEFFERSON - Brodhead's hot shooting from the free throw line couldn't have come at a better time Tuesday night.
The Cardinals made all 13 of their fourth-quarter free throws to earn a 61-57 boys basketball win over Jefferson.
Brodhead (9-5, 6-4 Rock Valley South) trailed by nine points to start the fourth quarter, then outscored Jefferson 23-10 to cap the comeback win.
Brodhead coach Brian Kammerer said the Cardinals just weren't making shots before the fourth quarter.
"The kids believed in the system," Kammerer said.
Brodhead sophomore J.J. Panoske led the Cardinals with 20 points. Brodhead junior Jacob Cole scored 13 points and senior Ryan Miller added 12.
