Cardinals, Redbirds and Wildcats all fall

RIVER VALLEY - For the second straight year Brodhead-Juda lost its season opener to River Valley.

The Blackhawks knocked off the Cardinals 14-0 on Friday.

River Valley limited the Cardinals to 161 total rushing yards. Brodhead-Juda senior quarterback David Earleywine completed 11 of 15 passes for 109 yards and had two interceptions. Levi Frost has six catches for 52 yards for the Cardinals.

Edgerton 54, Belleville-Albany 27

EDGERTON - The Wildcats dropped a shootout in a season opening non-conference game.

Edgerton senior Collin Gregory completed 9 of 12 passes for 225 yards and five touchdowns in the first half to help the Crimson Tide roll.

Belleville-Albany running back Garrison Woods rushed for 178 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns. Senior quarterback Collin Adams completed 5 of 13 passes for 77 yards and one touchdown.

Edgerton's Peter Linsley rushed for 257 yards on 22 carries and scored two touchdowns.

Platteville 54, Darlington 6

PLATTEVILLE - The Redbirds got off to a quick start with an early touchdown, but the Hillmen rolled after that.

Darlington, which lost just about every starter from a team that made a run to the state semifinal last year, will play at Brodhead-Juda next week.
