EAST TROY - Brodhead's boys basketball team suffered a tough loss on the road Friday to East Troy, 86-77.

"I don't like to single anyone out, and this is what we tell the kids, too, but the officiating took away a really good game," Cardinals head coach Brian Kammerer said.

Brodhead found itself down 18-10 after the first quarter but scored 33 points in the second quarter to lead 43-42 at the half. In the third quarter, East Troy's guards took over the game and the Cardinals started sending the Trojans to the foul line.

"We had trouble with their guards," Kammerer said. East Troy shot 18-for-27 from the free throw line in the game.

J.J. Panoske scored 31 points to lead the Cardinals, and senior Jake Cole added 20.

"Cole really stepped up tonight, as did (Michael) Peterson," Kammerer said. Peterson scored 14 in the loss.

"It was a team effort all game. The guys played hard and that cannot be taken away."
