MONROE - The Wisconsin Skeeters are coming at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14 to the SLICE Arena.
The sled hockey team will play an exhibition and give a demonstration about sled hockey. The event is sponsored by the Monsignor Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund.
The Paralympic version of ice hockey called sled (or sledge) hockey made its debut at the Lillehammer 1994 Winter Games. Players use double-blade sledges that allow the puck to pass beneath. Players use two sticks, which have a spike-end for pushing and propelling themselves up and down the ice and a blade-end for shooting.
The Skeeters association with Monroe began in 2013 when the Monsignor Thomas F. Campion Charitable Fund helped them purchase their uniforms.
The event is open to the public at no cost, but donations may be made to the Wisconsin Skeeters hockey team at the door.
