Butler, Moe garner all-state honors

MONROE - Black Hawk senior Heath Butler was named honorable mention all-state by the Associated Press Friday.

Butler averaged 25.8 points and 11 rebounds per game and helped lead Black Hawk to a 14-11 record and a regional championship game where the Warriors lost to Williams Bay 57-53.

The AP released its all-state team Friday. The all-state team was voted on by sports reporters across the state. Butler also was named the Six Rivers East Conference Player of the Year.

Butler will play basketball at Madison College next year.

Brodhead junior Kylie Moe was also named honorable-mention all-state. Moe averaged 17.2 points per game this season and led Brodhead to a fifth straight Rock Valley South Conference championship. Moe made 45 three-pointers and shot 39.1 percent from the 3-point line. Moe took home the championship of the inaugural 3-point contest at the WIAA state tournament.

Whitewater defeated Brodhead in a sectional semifinal 60-43. Three of Brodhead's five losses this year came to teams ranked No. 1 when the Cardinals played them, including two losses to Division 3 state champion Whitewater and a loss to Division 4 state champion Cuba City.
