MONROE - A trio of boys basketball players were recently named Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association honorable mention All-State.
The three honorable mention all-state players in Division 5 include Black Hawk junior Seth Butler, Monticello senior Bryce Klitzke and Albany junior Isaiah Shell.
Butler averaged a team-high 13.2 points per game, leading Black Hawk to a 23-2 record. The Warriors, who were ranked in the state's top 10 teams for most of the season, went 11-1 in the Six Rivers East to win the conference by two games over Barneveld. Black Hawk made a run to the sectional semifinal where they lost to Randolph 56-53.
Klitzke averaged 17.9 ppg and led Monticello to an 18-6 mark and a third place finish in the Six Rivers East.
Shell was the leading scorer in the Six Rivers East and the conference's player of the year. He averaged 22.2 ppg and scored a game-high 26 points in the Comets' 49-48 upset of Monticello, which was ranked fourth at the time. With the win, Albany snapped a 13-game losing streak against the Ponies.
Germantown senior Luke Fischer was named Mr. Basketball of Wisconsin. Fischer, an Indiana University recruit, averaged 20.5 ppg and 9.8 rebounds per game, and led the Warhawks to their second straight state title this year. Germantown is 56-0 the last two years.
