CHICAGO - Monroe native Colin Burns will look to defend his title in the USA Weightlifting National Championships Saturday in Chicago.
Burns, a 2002 Monroe High School graduate, set a new American record of 173 kilograms (381 pounds) in the 94 kilogram division of the snatch portion of the competition last year.
Burns is a former USAW Olympic Training Center athlete who has moved to southern California and works for Juggernaut Training.
Burns is ranked No. 1 in the 94kg division for Saturday's competition.
