For a Black Hawk volleyball team that capped an amazing season with a fourth straight Six Rivers East Conference championship and a third consecutive conference unbeaten season, the postseason awards are icing on the cake.
Black Hawk, which has won 36 straight conference matches, had three players selected first team all-conference, including seniors Kim Wellnitz, Katie Place and junior setter Alyssa Piefer. Albany junior Sydney Bump was named first team all-conference and was the Player of the Year. Albany junior Kaitlyn Schulz also received first team all-conference recognition for helping lead the Comets to a 10-2 conference mark.
The other first team selection was Pecatonica senior Cassie Swenson.
Both Pecatonica and Argyle had two players each named second team all-conference. Pecatonica senior Elizabeth Ihm and junior Ellie Gifford were named to the second team. Argyle seniors Lindsay Flanagan and Jackie Dammen also were honored as second team all-conference. The second team all-conference team included Juda senior Heather Boeke and Albany senior Clare Koopmans.
