LA Crosse - Monroe's Kyle Bruce is shooting up the leaderboard and is tied for 15th place after the first two rounds at the Wisconsin State Golf Association Junior Championship in La Crosse.
Bruce shot a 75 on Tuesday at the La Crosse Country Club despite fast and tough greens. Bruce made four birdies, but had seven bogies on the day. His two day total of 151 would puts him into 17th place.
Kyle Shafer of Spring Valley is leading after Tuesday with a total score of 142, which is 2-under par.
Bruce did make the cut for Wednesday's third round. The top 84 players and ties play on Day 3.
On Monday, Bruce shot a 4-over-par 76. The greens were difficult at times, leading to a couple bogies. Bruce birdied two holes on the day, but they were offset by a double bogey on the tough 18th hole. After the first day Bruce was tied for 32nd, with Ben Skogen of Onalaska posting a 68 for the low score of the day.
