NEW GLARUS - Two New Glarus boys basketball teammates, senior Cullen Brooks and junior Jaden Kreklow, were named honorable mention Associated Press All-State Monday.

The two players led the Glarner Knights to an unbeaten regular season record and a No. 1-ranking in the Division 4 Associated Press state poll. Pardeeville tipped New Glarus 74-68 in a WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinal game. It was the second straight year the Knights have lost in the sectional semifinals. New Glarus closed the season with a 24-1 overall record.

The Knights ran a fast-paced drive and kick offense that featured a high volume 3-point shooting and transition baskets. New Glarus averaged 82.7 points per game. Kreklow, the Capitol South Conference Player of the Year, averaged 20.3 points per game and was one of four New Glarus players who averaged double figures.

Brooks (15.1 ppg) proved to be a versatile big man for the Knights who was adept at passing and finding the open man when teams double-teamed him down low in the paint.

Kaukauna senior Jordan McCabe was named the state's player of the year. The coach of the year was Brad Weber of Oshkosh North. McCabe, a West Virginia recruit, finished his high school career as the state's sixth all-time leading scorer with 2,442 points. He averaged 26.7 points and 7.8 assists this season.

Waunakee senior Mitch Listau was named third-team all-stated. Wisconsin Dells 6-foot-7 senior Tanner Brandt received fourth-team all-state honors.

The four other area players who were named honorable mention all-state include Mineral Point sophomore Isaac Lindsey, Monona Grove senior Jake Schroeckenthaler, Waunakee senior Mason Steffen and Reedsburg senior Tyson Tully.
