BRODHEAD - Junior guard Erin Nyhus scored a game-high 13 points to propel the Brodhead girls basketball team to a 48-45 win over Beloit Turner on Tuesday.
Nyhus made 4 of 6 free throws to help the Cardinals seal the win. Brodhead (3-7, 2-4 Rock Valley South) shot 53 percent at the free-throw line (18 of 34), and the Cardinals made more free throws than the Trojans attempted (12).
Brodhead senior Catherine Hazeltine added nine points, and Alexis Oliver and senior Morgan Cook each had seven points.
Durand (Ill.) 33, Juda 31
DURAND - Juda senior Chelsea Burkhalter scored a game-high 17 points, but Durand held off the Panthers for a nonconference win.
Burkhalter had the hot shooting hand for Juda (6-4), knocking down four of the team's five 3-pointers.
Junior MacKenzie Byrne added nine points, and Erika Duecker pitched in five points.
