Brodhead-Juda sweeps dual meet

BRODHEAD - Seniors Trent Jordan and Joey Jordan recorded sprint victories and senior Levi Frost won both hurdles events to lead the Brodhead-Juda boys track team to an 82-64 win over Big Foot Thursday.

In the girls meet, junior Jenessa Arnsmeier won the 200 meters and long jump, and defending Division 2 state champion Heather Clankie continued her dominance in the discus to help the Cardinals to a 96-49 win.

Trent Jordan won the 200 in 24.5 seconds while Joey Jordan took the 400 in 52.6. Frost won the 100 hurdles in 16.7 and took the 300 hurdles in 44.7 seconds. Trent Jordan was the first-place finisher in the long jump (18 feet) and Joey Jordan was the winner of the triple jump (42-10.5).

Freshman Gavin Baade (120-9) gave the Cardinals another first-place finish in the discus. The Cardinals nearly swept the boys relays, as the 800 (1:45.3), 1,600 (3:41.9), and 3,200 (9:01.9) units all came in first.

The Brodhead-Juda girls took five of six field events as Clankie fired the discus 121-9. Junior Mariah Ahrens won the high jump (4-10) and the triple jump (26-7). In addition to winning the long jump (13-1), Arnsmeier won the 200 in 30.2 seconds. Sophomore Meg Duffield took the 400 in 1:05.2.

Like the boys team, the Cardinals finished first in three of the four relays. The 400 meter relay team was victorious in 59.4 and the 3,200 squad won in 11:48.6. The Cardinals went unopposed in the 400 meter relay as Katy Ryser, Camilla Klar, Duffield, and Ahrens delivered a time of 5:23.5.
