Brodhead-Juda rolls to victory

BRODHEAD -Sophomore Jeffrey Williams scored three touchdowns and senior quarterback Matt Schmitt scored two to lead the Brodhead-Juda football team to a 42-16 victory over Edgerton on Friday night.

Schmitt got the Cardinals (3-3 Rock Valley) on the scoreboard first with a 15-yard TD run midway through the first quarter.

Williams scored the next two TDs, on a 3-yard run and a 6-yard run, in the second quarter to give the Cardinals a 22-0 lead at halftime.

Schmitt scored again in the third quarter to stretch Brodhead-Juda's advantage to 29-0.

After Edgerton (1-5) trimmed the deficit to 29-8 in the fourth quarter, the Cardinals responded with a 2-yard touchdown run from Williams and a 76-yard TD run from Seth Allen.

Allen finished with 106 yards on three carries. Williams rushed 12 times for 72 yards, and Jack Speckman had 12 carries for 51 yards.

Schmitt completed six of 10 passes for 84 yards. Parker Johnson made two catches for 38 yards.



New Glarus-Monticello 42, Marshall 6

NEW GLARUS - Zach Feller rushed for 125 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns to power New Glarus-Monticello past Marshall.

New Glarus-Monticello (3-3, 2-0 Capitol South) stays on top in the conference.

Junior running back Tanner Jelle also had two touchdowns for the Glarner Knights.

Jelle had a 17-yard touchdown run with 9 minutes left in the first quarter to give the Knights an early lead. Feller scored on a 25-yard run about midway through the first quarter and had a 16-yard touchdown run early in the second quarter to give the Knights an insurmountable 21-0 lead.

Jelle had a 6-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter and Jesse Tetner had a fumble recovery for a touchdown late in the third quarter.

New Glarus-Monticello senior Hayden Latsch capped the scoring for the Knights with a 1-yard TD run.

Junior Noah Zimmerman was 1 of 1 passing for 39 yards.

Darlington 69, Boscobel 0

BOSCOBEL - Senior Hunter Johnson scored three touchdowns and rushed for 90 yards on seven carries to propel the Redbirds (6-0, 3-0 SWAL).

Darlington and Iowa-Grant are tied for the SWAL lead.

Senior Trevor Johnson and junior Tyler Mosley each scored two touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Jared Meister completed four of five passes for 88 yards with one touchdown. Meister connected with junior Grady Rielly on a 26-yard TD pass in the second quarter.



In other games Friday, Pecatonica-Argyle defeated Highland 27-10 and Evansville-Albany toppled Whitewater 63-14.

Pecatonica-Argyle (6-0) stays on top in the Six Rivers Conference. Evansville-Albany (5-1) stays in a tie atop the Rock Valley Conference with Clinton.
