BRODHEAD - The Brodhead boys basketball team may be the hottest team in the area after hanging on to pick up a 64-56 win over Clinton Friday night.
Brodhead (10-5, 7-4 Rock Valley South) have won nine of its last 10 games. The Cardinals were led by 6-foot-9-inch sophomore J.J. Panoske, who scored a game-high 23 points and nailed five 3-pointers. Brodhead and Clinton were tied at 12 at the end of the first quarter. The Cardinals outscored Clinton 21-14 in the second quarter to build a seven-point halftime lead.
The Cardinals connected on 13-of-22 free throws. Brodhead senior Ryan Miller scored 18 points and junior Jacob Cole added 13.
Brodhead hit seven 3-pointers in the game.
