Brodhead crushes rival Parkview

BRODHEAD - Junior Kylie Moe scored a game-high 17 points to lead a balanced attack as Brodhead crushed Parkview 67-22 Friday.

Brodhead freshman Erin Nyhus scored 13 points and senior Brooke Boegli added nine points. Junior teammate Amber Pickel chipped in eight points.

Brodhead (9-3, 7-1 Rock Valley South) led 19-5 after the first quarter. The Cardinals switched to a halfcourt trapping defense and had some success forcing turnovers.

"It was a big win for the girls," Brodhead coach Brian Kammerer said. "I wouldn't say that we are in the driver's seat. Big Foot is just one game back. It's really anyone's conference championship."



Barneveld 82, Black Hawk 17

PLATTEVILLE - Barneveld's Hannah Whitish scored a game-high 26 points and No. 1 ranked Barneveld rolled to an 82-17 win over Black Hawk at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville Friday.

Barneveld raced out to a 22-6 lead and led by 39 points at the half.

Barneveld senior Rachel Slaney scored 19 points. Black Hawk junior Aleigha Sigafus scored a team-high six points.

"I was just worried about getting the ball past halfcourt," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said. "I thought we handled their press well at times. They have great athletes. They just have so many weapons. They just flat-out finish around the rim.

Barneveld shot 59.6 percent (34 of 57) and the Warriors shot 21.8 percent (7 of 32).

With the loss, Black Hawk drops to 3-8, 2-3 Six Rivers East. Black Hawk will play at Warren, Ill. on Monday.



Cuba City 86, Darlington 29

DARLINGTON - Cuba City's Jessica Marti scored a game-high 22 points and drilled three 3-pointers to power the Cubans to an 86-29 win over Darlington.

Cuba City (12-0, 7-0 SWAL) jumped out to a 29-9 lead and the lead ballooned to 31 points at the half, 51-20.

The Cubans outscored the Redbirds 26-4 in the third quarter. The Cubans made 10 three-pointers. Cuba City's Chloe Pustina added 14 points and hit four 3-pointers.

Darlington's Taylor Jacobson scored a team-high nine points and teammate Callie Norton chipped in six points. With the loss, Darlington drops to 3-9, 2-4 SWAL.
