DEERFIELD - Brodhead's season came to an end in heartbreaking fashion Thursday night, as the Cardinals fell in five sets to Deerfield. It was neck-and-neck to the finish, but the Demons just held on to a 25-21, 24-26, 26-24, 26-28, 15-13 win.
"I thought my team played tough tonight," Brodhead coach Erin Kammerer said. "They had a lot of desire and heart."
Brodhead junior Carly Mohns had a team-high 16 kills and four aces. Junior Rachel Heller notched 13 digs. Kylie Moe racked up 21 assists, and sophomore Payton Wright added 14 assists and four aces.
With the loss, Brodhead finished the season 17-15.
"I'm proud of how much heart they had," Kammerer said. "I think our volleyball skills are refined and have become better. I'm proud of the heart they played with."

FALL RIVER - Eleventh-seeded Black Hawk's bid to upset third-seeded Fall River came up short Thursday night, as the Warriors lost in three games, 25-15, 25-15, 25-19.
