JANESVILLE - Monroe's girls team is headed back to the state tournament in a quest to defend their Division 2 championship.
The Cheesemakers beat Madison Edgewood 40-34 in the sectional finals. The Crusaders split with Monroe in the regular season series.
The Cheesemakers will play Grafton on Friday, March 13 at 1:35 p.m. at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. If Monroe wins, they will play the winner of the Durand/Green Bay Notre Dame game on Saturday.

FORT ATKINSON - The Black Hawk Lady Warriors punched the programs first-ever ticket to the state tournament in Madison by beating Randolph 44-30 on Saturday.
After trailing in the first quarter, the Warriors straightened their game out and finished strong.
Black Hawk will play Six Rivers West champion Potosi, which beat top ranked Wisconsin Rapids Assumption by three points, in the opening round Friday morning, March 13, at 9 a.m.
Potosi gave Black Hawk its first loss of the season.

Should Black Hawk win, they would advance to the championship game against the winner of the Siren-Saint Mary Central matchup.
VERONA - Mitch Tordoff's hot hand sparked Monroe from the get go. Tordoff scored 18 points in the first half and Mitch McArdle shut down the Rock Valley's leading scorer all game.
The Cheesemakers move on to face Wisconsin Dells on Thursday in the sectional semifinal in Waunakee at 7 p.m.
Cuba City 87, New Glarus 76, 3OT
EVANSVILLE - The Knights put up their best effort, but fell to the state's second ranked team in the Division 3 regional final.
Ryan Bright scored 27 for the Knights and Cassidy Flannery had 18.
New Glarus took a 5-point lead in th second overtime, but Cuba City's Evan Richard took over.
Richard scored 47 points in the game.
Four of New Glarus' five starters fouled out in the game.
Benton 68, Monticello 46
DARLINGTON - The Ponies season came to an end as one of the state's top teams in Division 4 led from the start.
Benton held an 18-point advantage at halftime and never let up.
