Boys, girls dominate Milton

MILTON - The Monroe girls and boys track teams ran past the Red Hawks in a dual meet Tuesday.

The girls team knocked off Milton 110-36 Tuesday. The Cheesemakers won 14 of the 18 events.

The boys team swept the top three spots in five events and won 13 of 18 events en route to a 106-40 win over Milton.

Monroe junior Jaclyn Ditter won the 100-meter dash (:13.3) and the 300 hurdles (:50.9).

The girls 1,600 relay team finished first with a time of 4:16.8.

"The girls know that's my favorite race," Monroe coach Curt Miller said. "It's just great for the bus ride home winning the 1,600 relay in the last event."

After an extended run with Monroe girls basketball team playing at state for the third straight year, Ditter ran the 300 hurdles for the first time this season.

"It's nice to see she can jump right back in there," Miller said. We had a lot of girls perform really well."

Stephanie Wyss won the high jump (5-feet, 1 inch) and the 800 (2:34.6). Wyss set a new PR with her winning jump.

Maria Eberle finished first in the 200 (:28.4) and Tessa Frutiger won the 400 (1:05.1). Molly Wyss took first in the 1,600 (6:08.5) and senior Tess Seichter finished first in the 3,200 (12:34.4).

Jessica Leu won the shot put (34-0) and Laura Chopp took first in the pole vault (8-6).

The Cheesemakers won all four relays. Eberle teamed with Ty Gibson, Jess Miller and Brenna Bazley won the 400 relay in 52.8 seconds.

The Cheesemakers' 800 relay team took first with a time of 1:54.7. The 3,200 relay also won with a time of 10:36.9.

In the boys dual meet, the Cheesemakers swept the top three spots in the 100, 200, triple jump, pole vault and shot put.

"We didn't really set it up to score a ton of points. We set it up to score enough points to win," Monroe boys track coach Dave Hirsbrunner said.

Monroe senior Mike Reed finished first in the shot put (46-7) and discus (148-10).

Fellow senior Mason Goff won the 100 (:11.5) and anchored the winning 800 relay (1:36.7).

Caleb Ahrens took first in the 110 high hurdles (:16.4) and Alex Bartlett won the 200 (:24.1).

Junior Michael Barrett cleared a lifetime best 6-5 to win the high jump and junior Jeffrey Hill finished first in the pole vault (13-0).

Junior Dylan Starck took top honors in the 1,600 (4:39.1) and Steve Christiansen won the 3,200 (10:43.1). Mack Brunker took first in the triple jump (38-9) and Matt Bush won the 400 (:54.2).

The Cheesemakers' 1,600 relay team finished first with a time of 3:39.
