BOYS BASKETBALL: Wins for Warriors, Monticello

SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk boys basketball team hammered Cassville 50-24 Monday night.

Black Hawk (6-4, 2-2 Six Rivers East Conference) outscored Cassville 15-2 in the second quarter to open up a 22-7 halftime lead.

Black Hawk senior Michael Place scored a game-high 24 points and junior TJ Adams added 10 points for the Warriors.

HIGHLAND 31, ARGYLE 29 (OT)

HIGHLAND - The Orioles lost a low-scoring defensive nail-biter to Highland in overtime.

Argyle (3-7, 2-4) jumped out to an 11-5 first-quarter lead and had a six-point edge at halftime, 16-10.

Highland made the only basket in overtime to seal the victory.

Argyle senior Andy Bohlman led the Orioles with 12 points and sophomore Nate Thomas chipped in eight.

MONTICELLO 69, ABUNDANT LIFE 48

MADISON - The Ponies received a big game from senior Brandon Holz and nailed five 3-pointers en route to the win over Madison Abundant Life.

Holz scored a game-high 25 points and connected on two 3-pointers. Monticello junior Jacob Marty added 17 points.

Monticello (7-4, 4-1) outscored the Challengers 17-7 in the second quarter and broke open a 15-point lead after three quarters.

The Ponies snapped a tough stretch in which they lost three of four games.
