BELMONT - Belmont's Michael Andrews made a buzzer-beating layup to give the Braves a 44-43 non-conference boys basketball win over Juda on Saturday.
Juda senior Beau Benner, who scored a game-high 22 points, had given the Panthers a 43-42 lead with a 3-pointer with 7.2 seconds left.
Belmont jumped out to a 12-7 first-quarter lead, but the Panthers answered, cutting the Braves' halftime lead to 19-18.
The Panthers came back and had a 31-29 lead at the end of the third quarter.
PECATONICA (Ill.) 55, BLACK HAWK 48
PECATONICA, Ill. - Turnovers proved costly to the Black Hawk boys basketball team in the Warriors' 55-48 loss at Pecatonica.
Despite leading most of the second half, the Warriors' 24 turnovers were too much to overcome.
"It was just a really sloppy basketball game," Black Hawk coach Jerry Mortimer said.
The Indians' offense exploded for 20 fourth-quarter points, helping Pecatonica erase a five-point deficit to start the fourth quarter and beat Black Hawk by seven.
The Indians led by two at halftime, but Black Hawk used 18 third-quarter points to take the lead.
Black Hawk junior TJ Adams scored a game-high 21 points, and senior Michael Place added 14.
Black Hawk (5-3, 2-1 Six Rivers East) is preparing for a big week at Barneveld on Tuesday and at Monticello on Friday.
"We will find out if we are in the mix," Mortimer said.
