BOYS BASKETBALL: Erickson scores 33 in Redbirds' win

DARLINGTON - Darlington sophomore Alex Erickson erupted for a game-high 34 points to lift the Redbirds to a 64-55 boys basketball win over Boscobel on Thursday night.

Erickson made three 3-pointers in the game as the Redbirds jumped out to a 17-9 lead and a 33-24 halftime edge.

"We moved Erickson inside and tried working the ball into the post," Darlington coach Michael Hopkins said.

The Redbirds (8-8, 5-5 SWAL) connected on 22 of 28 free throws, including nine free throws in the fourth quarter.

"We made our free throws down the stretch," Hopkins said.

Tanner Havens scored nine points and Tucker Wiegel added eight for the Redbirds.

ALBANY 50, BLACK HAWK 49

SOUTH WAYNE - The Comets pulled off an upset of the Warriors. Black Hawk (9-7, 4-4 Six Rivers East) broke a 9-9 first quarter tie in the second and led 25-21 at halftime. The Warriors led 36-35 going into the fourth quarter, but Albany outscored them 15-13.

Albany (6-9, 2-5) was led by junior Bryce Hulbert, who scored 13 points, and senior T.J. Zweifel, who scored 12 points, including two 3-pointers.

Black Hawk was paced by senior Payton Schliem, who scored a game-high 17 points, and junior T.J. Adams, who added 16. Black Hawk senior Michael Place chipped in 11.

ARGYLE 40, PECATONICA 39

BLANCHARDVILLE - The Orioles edged Pecatonica and completed a season sweep of the Vikings.

Pecatonica used a 10-2 second-quarter run to build a 27-20 halftime lead.

Argyle (5-10, 4-5) outscored the Vikings 11-4 in the third quarter to get back in the game.

Orioles senior Kevin Berg scored a game-high 17 points and fellow senior Andy Bohlman added 12.

Pecatonica (6-9, 3-6) was led by Jeremy Meudt and Kyle Kent, who each scored 11 points. Pecatonica senior Kaleb Feller had nine points.
