Boley lifts Knights, Cards roll

NEW GLARUS - Colton Boley kicked a 37-yard field goal with 2 minutes, 4 seconds to go to give New Glarus-Monticello a thrilling 21-20 comeback win over Westfield Friday.

"It felt incredible to see it go over the bar," New Glarus-Monticello coach Desie Breadon said. "Even though this wasn't the biggest game it sure felt like it."

New Glarus-Monticello (1-3) rallied from an 8-point second-half deficit. New Glarus-Monticello senior quarterback Gavin Binger had two touchdown runs to lead the Knights. Senior Dristen Kriebs rushed for 62 yards on 12 carries and scored one touchdown. Kriebs had a 5-yard TD run in the third quarter to cut Westfield's lead to 20-18.

The Glarner Knights forced five turnovers (three fumbles and two interceptions) en route to the win.



Brodhead-Juda 41, East Troy 0

BRODHEAD - Senior Griffin Day scored three touchdowns to propel Brodhead-Juda to a 41-0 win over East Troy.

Brodhead-Juda (4-0, 1-0 Rock Valley South), ranked No. 2 in the WisSports.net Division 4 Coaches poll, got off to a fast start with Mitchell Johnson scoring on a 1-yard run midway through the first quarter. Day ran in the two-point conversion to give the Cardinals an 8-0 lead. Day had a 4-yard TD run and Brennan Bescup hooked up with Ned Slocum on a 46-yard TD pass in the second quarter to give the Cardinals an insurmountable 22-0 lead at the half.

Day had 1 and 51-yard TD runs in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Johnson rushed for 106 yards on 30 carries and scored one touchdown. Day rushed for 96 yards on four carries and had three touchdowns. The Cardinals rolled to 400 total yards including 297 rushing yards. The Brodhead-Juda defense forced three turnovers en route to the shutout.

Bescup completed 4-of-5 passes for 103 yards and one touchdown.



Black Hawk 50, River Ridge 18

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk senior Shawn Woodruff had a breakout game, rushing for 257 yards on 20 carries and scoring four touchdowns to help the Warriors thump River Ridge 50-18.

Getting better at running the ball has been a focus for Black Hawk (3-1, 3-0 Six Rivers). The Warriors, ranked No. 2 in Division 7, rushed for 441 yards and racked up 551 total yards in the win.

"We are slowly getting better in the run game," Black Hawk coach Cory Milz said. "We have some kids coming into their own on the line. We are starting to grow and make progress."

Black Hawk senior Heath Butler was 5 of 10 passing for 110 yards and one touchdown. He added 92 rushing yards on 13 carries and one touchdown.

"We are where we need to be as far as the standings," Milz said. "There is a lot of parity in our conference. We are not by any means the class of the conference."



Darlington 40, Fennimore 6

FENNIMORE - Darlington senior quarterback Cole McDonald had a big game passing to lead the Redbirds to a 40-6 win over Fennimore.

Darlington (3-1, 2-0 SWAL) racked up 417 total yards including rolling up 274 rushing yards. Darlington senior fullback Myles Leahy rushed for 186 yards on 27 carries and scored two touchdowns. McDonald was 4 of 6 passing for 143 yards and two touchdowns. He had a 77-yard TD pass to Jason Singer.



Evansville-Albany 34, Palmyra-Eagle 0

EVANSVILLE - Nathan Redders rushed for 137 yards and scored three touchdowns to propel Evansville-Albany to a 34-0 win over Palmyra-Eagle.

Evansville-Albany (2-2, 1-0 Rock Valley North) rushed for 363 total yards.

Redders scored on a 19-yard run about midway through the first quarter to give the Blue Devils a 7-0 lead. He then bolted for a 77-yard TD run that extended the lead to 13-0 in the first quarter.

Evansville-Albany's Kip Erickson had a 5-yard interception return for a touchdown and Redders scored on an 8-yard run to give the Blue Devils a 27-0 lead at the half.

In other action, Shullsburg beat Pecatonica-Argyle 28-26. The Vikings (3-1) rallied from from a 22-6 halftime deficit. Pecatonica-Argyel's Codie Mau had a 3-yard TD run and Riley Ostby had a 2-yard TD run to help the Vikings' comeback that just came up short.

Pecatonica-Argyle senior Drew Schliem was 9 of 20 passing for 167 yards and one touchdown. Teammate Anthony Hendrickson had three cathes for 106 yards and one touchdown.

Ben Haegele capped the scoring with a 42-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.
