MONROE - The Monroe Brewers clinched second place in the Home Talent Sunday League Western Division with a 6-0 win over Hollandale Sunday.

"It was a good game," Monroe co-player/manager Rooney Janecke said. "Wiota won (against Dodgeville Sunday), so they took third, but we did what we needed to do to get second."

Cody Boals mixed up his pitches on the hill for Monroe (12-4), picking up the win. Boals tossed eight innings, allowed five hits and three walks while striking out 10. Ben Korth pitched the ninth for the Brewers and struck out two.

Monroe got to Hollandale starter Pat Clerkin early, scoring two runs in the bottom of the first and three in the second.

Janecke was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run. Mitch Marty was 2-for-4 with two runs and Justin Hahn scored twice. Adam Scherer doubled, Scott White added an RBI in the fourth and Matt Busjahn also scored for Monroe.

Verona won the division.
