Blue Devils top Cards, NG-M wins

EVANSVILLE - Tony Paschal and Logan Katzenmeyer each ran for two touchdowns to lead the Evansville-Albany football team to a 35-7 win over rival Brodhead-Juda Friday.

Paschal rushed for 124 yards on 19 carries and Katzenmeyer added 56 yards on eight carries to power the Blue Devils to the win over the Cardinals. Paschal had 1 and 2-yard TD runs in the second and third quarters to help the Blue Devils take a 14-7 lead. Quarterback Zach Mielke completed 3 of 8 passes for 40 yards

Evansville-Albany (5-3 Rock Valley) scored 21 points in the third quarter to take control of the game.

Brodhead-Juda senior quarterback Parker Johnson was 7-for-15 passing for 87 yards with one touchdown. Johnson hooked up with senior Brekan Day on a 63-yard TD pass in the third quarter. Brodhead-Juda's Marco Buneo rushed for a team-high 53 yards on 14 carries.

With the loss, Brodhead-Juda drops to 2-6 in the Rock Valley. The Cardinals' run of 26 straight playoff appearances is snapped this season.



New Glarus-Monticello 37, Waterloo 9

WATERLOO - New Glarus-Monticello senior fullback Tanner Jelle rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Glarner Knights to a 37-9 win over Waterloo.

New Glarus-Monticello quarterback Jared Carney tossed a 34-yard TD pass to senior Cullen Brooks in the third quarter. With the win, the Knights (5-3, 2-1 Capitol South) are still in contention to win a conference championship. New Glarus-Monticello will play Cambridge, which is unbeaten in the Capitol South, next week. With a win, the Knights could force a three-way conference champions with the Blue Jays and Belleville at 3-1.
