Here is the Green County YMCA Blaze football report for Week 6:

Blaze Seventh Grade

The Monroe Blaze Seventh Grade hosted the top-ranked Mt. Horeb White team Saturday, Oct. 16 at the YMCA and lost 24-0. The Blaze struggled on offense, mounting only 108 yards of offense on 33 plays, including a 30-yard pass from Jaron Kuester to Garrett Gogin and a 35-yard run by Kuester towards the end of the game.

Defensively, 13 out of 18 players were involved in at least one tackle. Kuester led the team with six tackles, followed by Jared Amacher, Kaya Teasdale and Nash VonKaenel with five each. Mitch Keith was credited with four tackles and Brent Edmunds recovered the lone Mt. Horeb fumble.

With the loss, the Seventh Grade Blaze's overall record now stands at 5-2 (4-2 in league play). The Seventh Graders travel to Middleton to wrap up the season at noon Saturday against the Middleton Red on the turf at the Middleton High School.

Blaze Eighth Grade

The 8th Grade Blaze defeated the Spartans White (Madison Memorial) by a score of 8-6 Saturday, Oct. 16 at the YMCA field in the first of two seeded games. The Spartans came in with a 4-1 record while the Blaze entered with a 5-0 record.

The game was a physical and defensive battle for both teams. The first half ended with no scores with the Blaze failing to capitalize on two scoring opportunities deep in Spartan territory.

Late in the third quarter, the Blaze scored on a 2-yard run by Chase Hellenbrand after an extended drive and Hellenbrand also kicked the extra point for an 8-0 lead. The Spartans answered in the fourth quarter on a 4-yard pass play, but the extra point attempt was no good. The score came following several acrobatic pass completions during the drive.

Late in the fourth, the Blaze were able to stop another Spartan drive on downs inside their own 10-yard-line.

The Blaze ran for 140 yards on 36 carries and completed its only pass attempt for 8 yards. The Spartans ran for 50 yards on 18 carries and completed 6 of 16 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown.

On defense, Joe Dahmen had seven tackles with three for loss, Turner Jensen had six tackles with two for loss, and both Cody Wolf and Rhett Katzenberger added five tackles each. At noon Saturday, the Blaze kick-off their final game of the seasonin Madison against the Southside Raiders.
