Black Hawk topples Juda

JUDA - Freshman Hannah Butler scored a game-high 19 points to help the Black Hawk girls basketball team cruise to a 57-30 win over Juda in a Six Rivers East Conference game on Thursday.

Black Hawk (3-0, 1-0 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 33-9 lead in the first half.

Black Hawk junior Hannah Herbst and freshman Natalie Leuzinger each added 10 points. Leuzinger made two of the Warriors' four 3-pointers.

Senior Chelsea Burkhalter scored a team-high 10 points for Juda (2-3, 0-1).

"We just really struggled offensively tonight," Juda coach Curt Brown said. "We couldn't put the ball in the basket. We just didn't get into a rhythm. That is a testament to their (Black Hawk's) defense. They are a really good and talented team."



Argyle 67, Albany 46

ARGYLE - Sophomore Jena Saalsaa scored a game-high 20 points to lead Argyle to a win over Albany in the conference opener for both teams.

Argyle sophomore Kirsten Ostby scored 17 points, and sophomore Alysabeth Lantz added 12 points.

Argyle (2-4, 1-0 Six Rivers East) hit six 3-pointers. Saalsaa, Ostby and Lantz each knocked down two 3-pointers.

"We started out in our press, and we got some turnovers and easy baskets," Argyle coach Kurt Ritschard said. "We were taking the ball to the rim and that opened up our outside shot."

Junior Haley Freitag scored a team-high 11 points for Albany (0-6, 0-1).

"What really gave us a spark is Morgan Godfrey," Ritschard said. "She was all over the offensive and defensive boards."



Darlington 75, Southwestern 31

HAZEL GREEN - Darlington had three players reach double figures and the Redbirds rolled to a Southwest Wisconsin Activities League win over Southwestern.

Darlington sophomore Kathleen Mathias scored a team-high 14 points. Sisters Taryn Rankin and Kennedy Rankin each added 12 points.

Darlington (5-2, 1-1 SWAL) led by 19 points at the half. The Redbirds outscored the Wildcats 33-8 in the second half.



Barneveld 69, Pecatonica 18

BARNEVELD - Teegan Pickarts scored a game-high 24 points and drilled four 3-pointers to help Barneveld roll to a win over Pecatonica.

Barneveld (2-3, 1-0 Six Rivers East) controlled the Vikings (0-6, 0-1) from the start. Pecatonica's Jessica Erickson scored a team-high 11 points.

Barneveld's Taryn Pickarts added 12 points, and Mia Whitish chipped in 11 points.
