MADISON - The Black Hawk Lady Warriors lost to Wausau Newman in the WIAA Division 4 state championship, 64-30, Saturday.
Black Hawk kept the game close for the first nine minutes, trailing 17-16 with under six to play in the first half. Newman shot 50 percent from the field and broke the Warriors' press with ease while closing the half on a 20-2 run to hold a 37-18 halftime lead.
Black Hawk finishes the season with a 27-2 overall record, and the second silver ball in school history (football, 1998).
