MONROE - The Black Hawk girls basketball is the new No. 1-ranked team in the Division 5 Associated Press state poll.
Black Hawk (10-0, 3-0 Six Rivers East) moved ahead of second-ranked Newman Catholic. The Warriors received four first-place votes to Newman Catholic's five. The Warriors received 83 votes to Newman Catholic's 81.
Black Hawk, which has won 52 straight regular-season games, will host No. 7 Barneveld (9-1) in a Six Rivers East clash on Friday in a game that was postponed due to inclement weather on Jan. 12.
The other area girls teams ranked include Brodhead
(9-1) at No. 8 in Division 3 and Cuba City (11-1, ranked fifth). Brodhead will play seventh ranked East Troy tonight.
The only area boys teams ranked are Cuba City (11-0), ranked No. 1 in Division 4, and Barneveld (No. 4) in Division 5.
