SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk senior Heath Butler scored a game-high 35 points and had a big third quarter to lead the Warriors to a 59-46 win over Belmont Monday in a non-conference game.

Belmont led Black Hawk by one point at the half. Black Hawk (11-7, 6-2 Six Rivers East) went on a 22-12 third quarter run to take the lead. Butler drilled three 3-pointers in the third quarter and senior Troy Wellnitz had one 3-pointer. The Warriors outscored the Braves 35-21 in the second half.

"Heath got it going in the second half," Black Hawk coach Charlie Anderson said. "He's really a special player."

Wellnitz and senior Shawn Woodruff both chipped in seven points for the Warriors. Butler made five of the team's season-high eight 3-pointers.

"It's nice to have a productive shooting night," Anderson said. "It's the best we have shot in a while. We started to hit some shots. The more shots we hit, the more confidence we got."

Black Hawk will host Juda at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

"The key is to come out of the gate playing with a lot of energy on defense," Anderson said. "It will be a battle. We have to set the tone."

Albany 64, Orangeville 44

ALBANY - Junior point guard Tyler Dahl scored a game-high 25 points to help Albany roll to a 64-44 win over Orangeville Monday.

Albany (7-11, 5-3 Six Rivers East) jumped out to a 13-8 lead in the first quarter. The Comets extended their lead to 14 points at the half. The Comets outscored the Broncos 18-10 in the third quarter to take a commanding 51-29 lead.

"In the second and third quarters we got a lot of points in transition," Albany coach Derik Doescher said. "We were just getting points off of loose balls, steals and rebounds, and we were finishing our opportunities."

Albany's Mitchell Trow added 12 points.

Orangeville's Dan Obert scored a team-high 13 points and teammate Noah Parriott added 11 points.

"It was good to get back in the win column," Doescher said.

Albany will host Barneveld Thursday. Albany has beat Barneveld in three straight games.

"All three of the wins were by two points," Doescher said. "All three wins came right down to the end. I realize that we will see a different Barneveld team than the first time we played. They are well coached and have really turned it around. We still both have a lot to prove in the conference. We will have our hands full on Thursday."
