'Birds win big; Pec, Argyle split

DARLINGTON - The Redbirds pounded out 13 hits in four innings at the plate Friday and routed Iowa-Grant in five innings, 11-0.

Darlington's Ronnie Rush pitched a two-hitter, striking out five. Jason Boll was 3-for-3 and Tanner Havens, Colton Carpenter, Colton Hackett and Matt Keister each had two hits.

The Redbirds scored three runs in the first, two in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth.

BLANCHARDVILLE - Tannar Johnson scattered three hits in the first game of a Six Rivers East doubleheader Friday, striking out seven.

Devin Jeglum, Taylor Berg, Chris Hendrickson and Tyler Francois each had two hits for Pecatonica (11-8, 5-3). Argyle's Nick Martin also had two hits.

Nate Thomas took the loss on the mound, giving up seven earned runs in 4 1/3 innings.

In the second game, Martin picked up the win for the Orioles, pitching all seven and allowing just three earned runs on 10 hits, four walks and five strikeouts.

Pecatonica used four pitchers, who allowing nine hits, eight walks and five hit batsmen in the loss. Johnson was 3-for-4 in the game at the plate.

Wisconsin Heights 3, New Glarus 1

MAZOMANIE - Nick Stuessy allowed three earned runs in six innings, taking the loss for the Glarner Knights. Stuessy struck out six, walked one and allowed seven hits.

New Glarus scored its only run of the game in the third, but the Vanguards plated all three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

New Glarus' Ryan Bright, Carlin Moen and Eric Felt each had two hits.

In other area action, Brodhead-Juda's game against Orfordville Parkview was suspended in the top of the seventh inning.
