'Birds, Cards rack up wins; NGM suffers 1st loss

DARLINGTON - The Redbirds just keep on rolling.

Darlington (7-0), ranked in the top 3 in both the Associated Press and WisSports.net Coaches Polls, lambasted Boscobel Friday afternoon, 58-0.

Senior Tucker Wiegel had four touchdowns - three runs and a 101-yard kick return to open the second half. Wiegel finished the day with 105 yards rushing on seven carries.

Tommy Notter had a 62-yard touchdown pass from Alex Erickson and Seth Rowe had two TD runs and 53 yards on 12 carries on the ground.

Zach McArthur had a 2-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter and was 5 for 6 on extra points. Hayden Black also kicked a PAT.

The Redbirds only collected 282 yards of offense - 199 rushing - but had a running clock the entire second half. Darlington led 44-0 at halftime.

Defensively, the Redbirds held Boscobel to just 60 total yards of offense - 98 passing and minus-38 yards rushing on 10 carries. Boscobel threw the ball 31 times, completing 14 passes. Darlington had an interception, two fumble recoveries and a safety.

The Redbirds are on the road for the final two weeks of the season. Next week Darlington travels to Iowa-Grant (5-1).

Waterloo 27, New Glarus-Monticello 23

NEW GLARUS - The Glarner Knights are undefeated no more. Ranked No. 10 in the AP Small Schools poll, New Glarus-Monticello out-gained Waterloo offensively and picked off two passes on defense, but it was the Pirates (6-1, 2-1 Capitol South) that picked up the win.

Waterloo scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1 minute, 57 seconds left in the fourth.

Tyler Dorn led the Knights' attack, carrying the ball 24 times for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Dorn also hit a 37-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter.

New Glarus-Monticello (6-1, 2-1) gained 298 yards rushing. Waterloo had 267 yards on the ground on 38 carries. Both teams combined to go 3 for 18 passing with three interceptions and 28 yards.

The Knights travel to Cambridge (4-3, 1-2 next week before closing out their season at Marshall (5-2, 3-0).

Brodhead-Juda 42, Palmyra-Eagle 19

PALMYRA - Brodhead-Juda junior running back Jesse DeLorme ran for 180 yards and scored three touchdowns to lead the Cardinals to a big win.

Brodhead-Juda (5-2, 4-1 Rock Valley South) won its fourth straight game.

DeLorme opened up the scoring with a 60-yard TD run. Alex Wallace scored on a 2-yard run with 34 seconds left in the first quarter to give the Cardinals a 14-7 lead.

The Cardinals exploded for 21 points in the second quarter. DeLorme scored on a 3-yard run and a 16-yard run. Brodhead-Juda junior David Earleywine was 8 of 11 passing and two touchdowns. Mike Peterson had three catches for 97 yards and two touchdowns.
