Big Foot rallies by Cardinals

BRODHEAD - Junior running back Jeffrey Williams rushed for 160 yards on 22 carries, but the Brodhead-Juda football team lost its season opener to Walworth Big Foot 47-27.

Brodhead-Juda senior Parker Johnson connected with Williams on an 8-yard touchdown pass to give the Cardinals a 7-6 lead with 4 minutes, 52 seconds to go in the first quarter.

Big Foot piled up 497 total yards and scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the season-opening win in the Rock Valley Conference between perennial playoff contenders. Big Foot quarterback Jackson Enz racked up 409 total yards and scored five touchdowns. Enz was 18-of-27 passing for 272 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He rushed for 137 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns.

Big Foot's Aiden Greco had four receptions for 114 yards and one touchdown.

The Chiefs regained the lead on Zach Kereley's 3-yard TD run late in the first quarter that helped give the Chiefs a 14-7 lead.

Brodhead-Juda's Seth Allen scored on a 5-yard run about midway through the second quarter to cut the Chiefs' lead to 14-13.

Enz helped the Chiefs answer when he hooked up with Greco on a 75-yard TD pass to give the Chiefs a 20-13 lead at the half.

Brodhead-Juda's Marco Bueno had a 19-yard TD run and Johnson tossed a 35-yard TD pass to Justice Tway to help the Cardinals take a 27-14 lead.

Enz again rallied the Chiefs answering with 6- and 43-yard TD runs to give the Chiefs a 34-27 lead.

The Cardinals racked up 364 total yards, but had three turnovers. Johnson completed 7 of 16 passes for 95 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Tway had two receptions for 48 yards and one touchdown and Williams had three catches for 18 yards and one touchdown.

Brodhead-Juda will play at conference favorite Clinton next week. The Cougars defeated Evansville-Albany in the opener 28-16.
