Bernet runs to two titles

ORFORDVILLE - Monticello senior Kelsey Bernet, a three-time state qualifier in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters, captured both events at Orfordville, Tuesday, but the host Vikings took first place in the girls triangular meet with 90 points, followed by Albany with 42, and Monticello with 24.

Bernet topped the field in the 1,600 meters with a time of 5:48.64 and took first in the 3,200 meters in 12:41.89. The Ponies also grabbed first place in the 3,200-meter relay in 11:14. Rosy Bauman of Albany was the first-place finisher in the 800 meters with a time of 2:48.03 while the Comets' Sydney Bump took first in the 300 low hurdles in 58.77 seconds. The Comets' relay team also had a good day with a victory in the 800 relay in 2:05.71 and in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:46.33. Albany's next meet is Thursday at Cambridge.
