HUSTISFORD - Juda senior Brandon Bauman got hot shooting when his team needed him the most.
Bauman scored 23 points and lifted the Panthers to a 53-47 win over Horicon at the Hustisford Holiday Tournament Wednesday night.
"I would like to say we played great team defense, but I can't," Juda coach Mike Armitage said. "We were fortunate to come out of this with a win. We may have not got the win if Brandon doesn't get warm."
Horicon jumped out to a 13-8 lead in the first quarter. The Panthers trailed 28-25 at halftime. The Panthers finished strong outscoring Horicon 15-8 in the decisive fourth quarter.
"We came out pretty flat," Armitage said. "We fought to the end and were able to pull out a win. Sometimes, you have to win ugly."
Juda's Kade Allen scored nine points and Joey Jordan and Matt Trotter each added six. Juda (4-2, 1-1 Six Rivers East) will play Hustisford today.
New Glarus 64, Shullsburg 33
BENTON - The Glarner Knights erupted hitting 10 3-pointers en route to a rout of Shullsburg in the Mike Alexander Benton Tournament.
New Glarus sophomore Trae VandeBerg scored a team-high 15 points and made two 3-pointers. New Glarus senior Riley Miller scored all 12 of his points on four 3-pointers and Bryce Anderson scored all nine of his points on three 3-pointers. With the win, New Glarus (4-5) snapped a five-game losing streak.
"I thought we shot the ball a lot better tonight," New Glarus coach Travis Sysko said. "One of the reasons I think we shot the ball better is we were really unselfish. We didn't force shots. The ball goes in when you get good shots. That was the case tonight."
The Glarner Knights broke the game open by outscoring Shullsburg 21-5 in the second quarter to build an insurmountable 34-12 halftime lead.
