Basketball camp sign-up begins

MONROE - Registration is underway for the Monroe boys and girls basketball camps scheduled May 26-28 at Monroe High School.

The boys basketball camp is open to boys in third to eighth grade based on the 2014-15 school year.

Former Wisconsin Badger guard Josh Gasser will be at the basketball camp July 28.

The cost is $35 for three days and includes a T-shirt with other prizes handed out during the week. The camp, run by Monroe head boys basketball coach Pat Murphy, will teach the fundamentals of defense, offense, shooting, rebounding, dribbling and passing. The camp will also provide individual and team competitions.

Entry forms for the camp can be filled out and returned with $35 to Murphy at Monroe High School by May 15.

The Monroe girls basketball camp is set for May 26-27 at the high school. The camp will be conducted by Monroe girls head basketball coach Sam Mathiason. The camp will focus on the basketball skills of shooting, rebounding, dribbling and passing. The cost of the camp is $35 and there are other summer basketball skill sessions available.

Anyone with questions on the boys camp can contact Murphy at 608-328-7850. Checks can be made payable to Monroe Boys Club and can be dropped off at the high school office.

The boys basketball camp times for third-, fourth- and fifth-graders is 4:30 to 6 p.m. and sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders will have basketball camp from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
