WILLIAMS BAY - Albany senior Tyler Bauman pitched a perfect game to propel the Comets to an 8-0 baseball win over Williams Bay-Faith Christian on Saturday.

Bauman didn't surrender any base runners and struck out 16 in a dominating performance, which came one day after he gave up a three-run homer to Orangeville's Austin Cramer in the Comets' 8-4 season-opening loss to Orangeville.

"He (Bauman) pitched a great game," Albany coach Brian Dahl said. "Is it the best I have seen him pitch? No, to be honest. It's the best control I have seen him have with his pitch placement. Hopefully, it was a good confidence builder for him."

Albany's Adam Zurfluh crushed a three-run homer in the fifth inning. Albany senior T.J. Zweifel led the Comets by going 2-for-3 at the plate.

"We needed that win early," Dahl said. "Hopefully, we will carry that over into the rest of the season."

WHITEWATER - Walks and errors haunted the Juda baseball team as the Panthers dropped a doubleheader at Whitewater.

Juda (0-3) committed seven errors in the first game. Juda senior Jacob Ramos was 3-for-4 and Steve West was 2-for-4 for the Panthers. Juda senior Beau Benner pitched six innings and gave up five runs on seven hits. He struck out nine and walked six.

The Panthers looked to be in prime position to pull off their first win of the season in the second game of the twinbill. Juda led Whitewater 6-4 going into the seventh inning. Whitewater came through with a seven-run seventh to seal an 11-6 win and the doubleheader sweep.

"We played really well in both games with the exception of not making some of the routine plays we are capable of making," Juda coach Kyle Krueger said. "Whitewater is a really quality opponent and to be able to compete with them for two full games is really encouraging for us."

West pitched five innings and gave up just one earned run on four hits. He struck out three and walked seven. Juda's Aaron Duecker came in and pitched the final two innings and gave up seven runs on six hits.

"In the second game we were able to keep their top hitters pretty quiet most of the game, but they eventually broke through with some big base hits. All the credit goes to them for putting the ball in play and making things happen," Krueger said.

West led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-4. Bryan Bauman and Duecker each hit two-run singles. For the day Kyle Nyman had two RBI, Ramos scored four runs and West scored three runs.
